The Historical Society of the Town of Middletown (HSM) is a membership organization dedicated to preserving, presenting and promoting the heritage of the Town of Middletown, Delaware County, NY and contiguous communities.

Chartered by the NYS Education Department in 2005, HSM has sponsored many public programs on aspects of local and regional history; preserved, in microfilm and in digital format, the Catskill Mountain News, 1902-1937; begun a collection of photographs, original documents, records, journals and memorabilia; collected and transcribed interviews with several community elders; conducted workshops on doing oral history interviews, researching house histories, and repairing cemetery stones; created a self-guided walking tour of historic Margaretville; restored and exhibited images from a collection of glass plate negatives, and offered historic house and cemetery tours.

Friends of Middletown Cemeteries, a committee of HSM, has inventoried several burial grounds and hopes to engage in cemetery restoration projects. HSM has also embarked on a multi-year project to document Middletown's long agricultural heritage.
